Jim Gasser.

Jim Gasser.

Where do I even start?

He’s an interesting young fellow! I met him last year; my first year doing indoor track. At first, well, I don’t remember what I thought about him. Probably that he was loud, obnoxious, annoying, odd, crazed, need I say more? Probably not.

Anyways, I am not too sure when I started to get to know him better, but it was when I first started pole vault. And did stupid stuff. That was when the torture began.

One day, in the back room, the pole vaulters were messing around in the back room on the mats. Everyone was trying to make it up onto the third mat, by first jumping on the lowest mat. Well, almost every single person made it onto the mat, but not I. Then, and only then, did everyone’s true colors on the track team start to show. I accidentally tripped on the lowest mat, and instead of jumping, I took a hard face plant into the mat. I don’t think I will ever live that down. Up until this day I still get made fun of for it. Especially by Jim.

This year, we have gotten a lot closer throughout the indoor season. He’s been there for me trying to help me get better, which is saying a lot. I don’t know too many others who would do that for me! We’ve had fun throughout the season, pictures on the back of the bus, listening to Jim, watching Billy kill himself, listening to Jim, watching me kill myself. It’s all been a great time, even when one particular kid doesn’t stop talking…

He really does not ever stop. I don’t know how he has a voice anymore, it should be gone. He talks, and talks…. And talks… And talks. Just a friendly person in my opinion. Such a wonderful trait to possess, even if you do have to make him stop every once in a while ;)

But, he also knows when to listen. And he’s good at it!

Although he can be weird, extremely sociable, and a little crazy at times, he’s a wonderful person to have around at all times. He makes you feel comfortable and happy no matter what mood you’re in.

Jim Gasser is “awesome”.

(There yuh go buddy!)
